Tomorrow starts the seemingly never-ending 2 day cycle of travel for the holidays. The sad thing about it is that usually I don’t mind going everywhere to visit people but this year it’s so bitter-sweet with mom not being around and dad being weird and insisting that he bring his black marionette puppet thing (lester) everywhere that I could care less.. He’s being a dork… But seriously, I am starting to worry about him. He’s just… So detached.

The schedule pretty much goes like this

Xmas eve with dad, pick up G, visit the Parkers, open some gifts. Drive drive drive… St. Johns… Mr. Man’s family most of the day on Xmas day. Try to get a few hours of sleep in there. Be home by 4 to be with mom’s side of the family. Try to convince my dad to come along. Open more gifts. Drop off G at 9PM. Go home, light a fire, be alone with my husband and admire whatever it is in that small, wrapped box that has my name on it.

I’m actually looking forward to the new year. I’m HOPING I still have a job after the 1st and that school goes well. But if my job does actually end, I’m OK with that too. I still have other places to go and other things to do… I’m just … Well. I’m looking forward to life now that this whole new leaf has been turned over.

And I just have to say, random acts of kindness totally make my day.

Mr. Man teaches Martial Arts. He has taught it pretty regularly for about the last 5 years I’ve known him. He mostly teaches kids, but has recently moved on to young adult/adult classes. Self defense is popular lately and I find it weird that self defense products are often so expensive. What’s the point in making something to help people if people can’t afford it?

The lighting in our house is weird. We have a little bit of everything from a light up doorbell (yep, I’m not joking) to the dangly ball light fixture that we used to have hanging in our bathroom. (it’s since been replaced with something more modern). The fun thing about my house is that the woman we bought it from left us all kinds of treasures. We have about 70 light bulbs on the shelves in the workshop downstairs… And there are about 25 different varieties of bulbs down there from fluorescent tubes to flood lights to halogen bulbs to heat bulbs. I don’t know why she had them all, but we have quite the selection if anyone is looking for something unusual and can’t find it!

Is there anyone out there that buys their own tuxedos? That’s a weird question, but I’ve been thinking about buying Mr. Man his very own tuxedo to have on hand. I kind of hesitate because, well… For 1 Mr. Man’s size changes quite a bit. It would be a shame to buy him a tuxedo and then have him either outgrow it or under grow it. I suppose we could always get it altered or sized down… But it’s not that easy to size up.

The first time I went to New York City I bought a fake Rolex on the street. That sucker still works. It works better than my really nice and very expensive gold watch that I got for my birthday several years ago… and the best part is that I think I only paid $20 for the fake Rolex. I’d be interested in finding out if there’s anyone locally that sells replica watches. Maybe the Gift Barn in the mall. I know the girl that works there, maybe she’ll cut me a deal!

Wedding invitations are a super huge waste of money. For that matter, weddings are an even bigger waste of money. For my second marriage I didn’t have a wedding. We got married in a civil ceremony with just a few close friends there. We went out for lunch before we took off for our make-shift honeymoon.

I find to be a completely self absorbed move to have a wedding for your second marriage, yet a lot of people do it. It says a lot about you as a person, I believe, when you have a second wedding. Especially if you wear white. Who are you trying to fool, anyhow?

We’ve postponed going to Disney for, oh about 2 years now. We planned to go this Christmas time. But because my mom died this summer and I used up all of my vacation time for that I simply couldn’t get enough time off in a row to go. Disney Vacations are so reasonable anymore. It’s almost stupid to NOT take G there while she’s still young enough to enjoy it. I’m hoping that sometime before next fall we can get our shit together and actually get there. I want to go before G turns 13!

I’ve always wanted to own a business and I really think it would be awesome to own a Super Suppers franchise. Have you guys ever tried out Super Suppers? I find that it’s really economical to make our meals this way. For about $11.95 a meal you get all the stuff you need for a 3 serving meal. Between G, Mr. Man and myself, the portion sizes are just perfect. You know what’s going IN to your food, and the selections are really tasty. I know Super Suppers franchises aren’t in every area yet but if you’ve been considering trying it out I highly suggest you do!

not a cool kid

I’ve never been a fan of swing sets. I fell off the one in my back yard as a kid because I was hanging upside down from the monkey bars and wearing Dr. Scholls slip on clog/sandals. The sandal slipped off my foot and then my foot slipped off the monkey bar. I bit through my lip as I landed on the ground. The neighbor kids were all witness to it. I didn’t have a lot of friends in our neighborhood.

That incident didn’t help my popularity any.

It’s almost the beginning of the year and what does that mean? It means a BIG car insurance bill in my mail slot. Yup. I got my insurance bill in the mail yesterday and where as I feel I should be thankful that all 3 of our cars are insured for less than $800 every 6 months I wonder if there isn’t any other cheap auto insurance out there. I BELIEVE I have a great deal but how do I know if I have the GREATEST deal???
