New Television

Mr. Man wants a new TV.  He wants a shiny, new, big, plasma screen television that is sure to cost way over $1000. 

Truth be told, I want one too.  After watching Heroes last year while visiting my brother-in-law in Brooklyn I have to admit, there’s nothing quite like how people look on HD.  Makes me feel a lot better about myself sometimes (Some of them looked like they had a stroke or something!)  But here’s my conundrum.  What do I need to know?  I mean, I can walk in to any electronics store and look at all the TV’s and say “that one looks nice” and walk out with it.  But…  What about the specifics?  Do I need to buy an HDMI switch?  How do you hook up your new TV to your old stereo, or am I going to have to get a new sound system as well? Do I need to know anything special about hooking up game systems so that my Dr. Mario addiction will flow seamlessly from our old 25 incher to this new huge thing?  I need help.  I want to get Mr. Man one of these for Christmas and I’d like to do it all myself but still pick out something decent.  Any suggestions?
